he Mill & Old Swan offers a satisfying blend of Cotswold stone and half-timbering dating back 600 years. The River Windrush glides silently past
its threshold. Here generations of sheep drovers have paused on their way to the great sheep fairs farther east, to water their flocks and slake their own thirst. For the animals the water sufficed; for themselves it had to be good ale, brewed until little more than a century ago beneath this roof. The old brew house is now the dining room and the water came from a well still to be found beneath the old tap-room floor.

Oxfordshire's leading corporate training centre,
the Mill & Old Swan provides the highest standards of
both facilities and accommodation for conferences and
business training.

THE DINING ROOM

A TASTE OF THE COTSWOLDS

Savour the delightful surroundings of the Swan Restaurant and choose from a wide selection of imaginative menus. Alternatively you may like to enjoy the intimacy of one of our private dining rooms where we cater for small weddings, individual & corporate parties and business lunches.

. Swan Restaurant
Where bedrooms are now to be found - there are 63 all en-suite - there was formally a great room used as a granary in days gone by. The other building was the fortified manor house of the ancient family, the Lovells. Intimates of
Minster Lovell . Richard III, they entertained him at the manor house while his retainers slept at the Inn. Evidence of this friendship was discovered when plaster was removed from a bedroom wall to reveal a glowing painted mural of "The Sun in Splendour" - Richard III's badge. This room is now appropriately named Richard III. The badge can be seen over the fireplace of what was formerly the brew house. (Now the Swan restaurant).
The Manor house and priory are now in ruins but the Inn remains gloriously intact. Centuries old coins, hand forged nails, iron latches, ornate hinges, flintlock pistols and other relics of those days turn up from time to time and many are on display.
