Built around 125 years ago, the Carps, as it is known locally, is located on the edge of Dursley on the road to Uley. Licencees, Ann and John Bell make the point that... "this is a basic, everyday local without frills or spills."  ...and so it is.

The Carps, however, is a very comfortable, no frills pub, and those who visit

It is true to say that most of the Carp's business comes from its faithful regulars, but it is also fair to say that many casual visitors have lingered much longer than they intended when they stopped off. A fact very much down to the friendly atmosphere Tony and her regulars promote and the welcome strangers receive.

Ann Bell is kind enough to point out that the Carps does not provide food - other than the usual snacks such as crisps, nuts, etc - saying that, as a community pub rather than a tourist pub, there is not sufficient demand to warrant the employment of additional staff. This should not put off the casual caller, however.
