Life began at the Tudor Arms as a small holding in the 1700s, but in the early 1800s when the Gloucester/Sharpness canal was being dug by hand by 'retired' Irish Navigator soldiers, licensed trading started here. The Tudor Arms became a beer and cider house and remained so for 150 years up to the late 1950s when it was uprated to a successful, 'Full on Licensed' premises. Since then further modernization has occurred and by March 1990, 12 purpose-built bedrooms, all en-suite, with colour TV and coffee making facilities, had been added.
We have one family room available, containing one double bed and two single beds. Remaining rooms are twin bedded rooms. All rooms are en-suite. We can supply cots when required, and toiletries are available for purchase in the Lodge. A single room costs £45 per night and a twin or double room costs £58. Both include breakfast and v.a.t.
Particularly attractive is the 'Rorty Crankle' restaurant. Originally a barn/hayloft, it has been tastefully converted to modern standards, but without losing much of the original character. The 'Rorty Crankle' has a standard table de hote menu and a comprehensive a la carte menu and wine list. All food is home cooked.
