Restaurant, Bistro - and the
Riverside Caravan Park

A superb restaurant and bistro, The George Inn, located on the A38 in the village of Cambridge, about half way between Gloucester and Bristol, is over two hundred years old. Boasting a profusion of oak beams, leaded-light windows and an enviable reputation for good food, it is no wonder it is one of the busiest restaurants in Gloucestershire.

There are two substantial menus. One, The Bistro, offers quick and easy food, but nonetheless, of a very high standard. With a choice of five different Ploughman's at £5.95, Filled Jacket Potatoes at only £3.95 and a tasty selection of Filled Crusty Rolls at £3.25.

The a la carte menu in the main restaurant is meant for those who have time to linger a while longer.  The grill, of course, is a great favourite, as in all restaurants, but The George's 12 oz Gammon Steak at a mere £7.95 has to be seen - and eaten - to be believed. The Chef's Platters is worth a good look too. A Half Leg of Lamb, at £10.95 cooked to perfection and served with redcurrant & honey gravy is among the regulars' favourites, and the 16 oz Texan Rib Steak, dusted in cracked pepper and served with a hot cajun sauce, is almost beyond description.

Both the bistro and restaurant menus are supplemented by daily additions and some 'specials' as take the chef's fancy. These are well displayed on a chalkboard and can prove as irresistable as the main menu. No one is left short of choice. Vegetarians are catered for as are children.
