| Dursley has a group of enthusiasts who produce three drama performances
each year and are locally known as the DODS. The omission of amateur in their title is deliberate; some of their
performances would do credit to professionals! They produce straight plays every autumn,
pantomimes after Christmas and musicals in the spring. DODS is affiliated to the National
Operatic and Dramatic Association (NODA) Not only do the
DODS produce major shows such as "My Fair Lady" and "Kiss me Kate",
but they also have a thriving Junior DODS group of 11 to 18 year-olds who put on their own
shows, with adult help and supervision. In July 2000 they first wrote and performed their
own show and since have produced several more. Other Junior DODS productions are always
being planned. |
Tickets for shows are always available from Ken Hitching's Photographic
Studio in Silver Street, Dursley DODS members have many
interests and there are opportunities for new members to
exercise their existing skills or to learn new ones. You can tread the boards, and sing or
dance, if you wish. You might want to help with costumes or make-up; alternatively you
might want to build scenery or manage props. Perhaps your interests might include sound or
lighting. There are opportunities for front-of-house participation, and there's always a
need for those who can make cups of tea! Everybody has something to offer.
